Stonecrop Eco House
New-build sustainable home
Stonecrop is a new-build, two-bedroom eco home near Tintagel, Cornwall. A low-profile contemporary dwelling, it responds to its rural and coastal setting through a restrained material palette, sustainable construction and locally sourced materials.
KOA Architecture was appointed during the technical design stage to develop and coordinate the Building Regulations package, supporting the project through approval and into construction with ongoing technical liaison with the client, who is building the house as a self-build.
The technical design brings together the architectural intent with Building Regulations requirements: wall and floor build-ups, warm flat roof and green roof construction, thermal performance, junction detailing, openings and accessibility.
A defining feature is the extensive use of natural Cornish stone, including stone reclaimed from the site, which recalls traditional local field walls alongside contemporary timber cladding and glazing.
