South Ridge
Extension, refurbishment & interior coordination
South Ridge is the comprehensive extension and refurbishment of an existing detached family home within the Bowdon Conservation Area. KOA Architecture was involved from initial briefing and feasibility through planning, technical design, construction and completion.
The works included a two-storey side and rear extension, a new entrance porch, first-floor Juliet balconies, replacement windows, rear bi-folding doors and a rooflight, together with alterations to the elevations, driveway, landscaping and outbuilding, creating a larger open-plan kitchen and family space connected to the garden.
KOA coordinated the architectural design with structural, Building Regulations and construction requirements, liaising with the contractors and collaborating with the interior designer to integrate finishes, kitchen, bathrooms, lighting and fitted elements.
The completed house combines warm brickwork with anthracite-framed glazing and a restrained contemporary interior of large-format finishes, dark joinery and timber detailing.
