KOA Architecture was appointed as architectural designer for the extension and refurbishment of a semi-detached family home, from early project definition through planning and Building Regulations.

A single-storey side and rear extension opened up the existing cellular rooms into a spacious kitchen, dining and living area, with improved utility space. The single-storey form limited the impact on neighbours and retained a substantial garden.

Trafford Council found the development acceptable in design, neighbouring amenity and parking, and the scheme was approved. KOA then developed the Building Regulations information for the envelope, roof, insulation, ventilation, drainage, fire safety and structure.

The completed ground floor is bright and open, with rooflights and glazed doors bringing daylight deep into the plan.
